When the doors opened at the Halls of St. George in Schererville, IN, over 800 guests in several different colored dresses, suits and ties paraded into Lake Central’s “Greatest Prom on Earth!”
DJ Segal of 219 School DJs opened the “Greatest Prom on Earth” with introductions of the 219 crew and all the guest entertainers to include the balloon artist from “It’s my Party” in Dyer, Flowtus – a group of hula hoopers, and magicians. To get the party started, two oversized projector screens on the stage played a slide show and music videos to entertain the guests. An amazing light show shined on the dance floor along with over 25 speakers pounding people’s chests, helping to keep the dance floor packed all night long.
This year’s prince, princess, king and queen were a complete surprise to everybody. The students cheered as Alex Mantel was crowned prince, Kennedy Phalen crowned princess, Tony Schneider crowned king and Christian “Peaches” Lockett crowned queen. The king and queen danced to “The Script – Hall of Fame” when Sweet Brown interrupted with “ain’t nobody got time for that” and the dj dropped the “Harlem Shake.”
There were so many guests at this year’s prom, two photo booths were provided to accommodate all of the lively students. They wore oversized 2013 glasses, feather boas, cat in the hat hats, and many stick props in their unique photo strips.
Red, yellow and blue uplighting surrounded the room creating a unique ambiance. The tables displayed popcorn bags and balloon bouquets in red, white and blue to carry through with their vintage circus theme. Instead of a sit down dinner, hors d’oeuvres were served buffet style causing the partying and dancing to begin extra early.
As prom came to a close, a few slow songs were played for the couples to enjoy their evening with their special someone. Guests took home their souvenir photo strips and personalized “Greatest Prom on Earth” tumblers filled with popcorn.
