The new MJ (Monica Johnson) and Brian Johnson wedding was a smash at Cloister in the Woods of Munster, Indiana. From the smashing of the cake, the food, the dancing, to the garter removal, the wedding was a smash.
The bride and groom created some custom one-liners similar to this video for their wedding party to be introduced which were comic relief for the guests, who some had traveled cross continent to enjoy the occasion. Then came the smashing of the cake into the groom’s face which must have been a very large piece of cake because it was everywhere. Dinner began with some 80s music, more specifically Hit Me With Your Best Shot dedicated to the groom, similar to the movie Wedding Singer.
Dancing began with some custom shortened music for the Bride & Groom’s first dance along with the Bride & Father, and Groom & Mother’s first dance. We decided to forego the anniversary dance or decade dance to get the party started since we were running a bit off schedule.
A blindfolded groom put on a smashing show for the garter removal. The crowd counted down 3, 2, 1 as the blindfolded groom as turned around in circles. The disc jockey led him over to the head table where the groom found some Christmas lights. Then the disc jockey laid a napkin down for the groom’s knees in front of the bride and let the groom dive in to find the garter. He had to remove a shoe, but ended up successful.
To close the evening everyone danced to a new wedding favorite, Glad You Came by The Wanted, an “enormous” picture of all the guests followed, then we finished off the night with an 80’s rock track “Eddie Money’s Take Me Home Tonight” similar to our Wedding singer dinner music.
Timeless Images Photography snapped pictures of the wedding ceremony and reception. They were very nice to chat with throughout the event and fit right in with the guests.
Comfort Catering served a delicious 4-course meal. Starting with minestrone soup and onion rolls, salad, to the main course of Italian parmesan crusted chicken with a roasted red pepper sauce, roast sirloin of beef au jus, oven roasted potatoes, and a California vegetable medley. I didn’t get a chance to taste the cake, but the groom got a face-full so it must have been delicious.
