Chicago Academy for the Arts Prom 2012
The students and a few teachers danced from the moment they arrived at the 2012 Chicago Academy for the Arts Prom at Lido Banquets in Chicago.
At first I was a little nervous to perform in front of successful and upcoming professionals at the Chicago Academy for the Arts. After the 1st song dropped after dinner, I knew it was going to be CRAZY!!!
The students (and teachers) had dance moves I have never seen before. Dances were choreographed and some students even got on stage to showcase their talents. The students even had very creative attire as I saw a pink and leopard suit, sleeveless suits, and even sombreros for Cinco de Mayo. To add to the atmosphere, uplighting helped to create a blue and white backlit party.
Mike took home prom king and Maiya took home queen while a prince, princess, and jester were also crowned for prom.
A step and repeat (photo backdrop) was used for couples and groups to take pictures with the Chicago Academy of the Arts 30 year logo as the background. Other than all the crazy dance moves the students created, a live camera feed or music videos were the focus for the students while dancing.
Lido Banquets in Chicago made it very easy to work with, especially their lighting, easy disc jockey load in/out, and the great food. The school admin was very easy to work with and all the planning culminated into an overall memorable experience. This has definitely been one of the best Chicago Proms in which I had the honor to be the disc jockey.
