Epic Wedding – Sam and Allison – Croatian Center – Merrillville, Indiana – Disc Jockey, Uplighting
Sam and Allison’s wedding at the Croatian Center in Merrillville, Indiana was the best wedding I, DJ Segal, ever had the chance to entertain at as the disc jockey.
During consultations they had stated that rather than an elegant wedding, they wanted it to be a party and have a club feel for their peacock colored wedding. We loved the idea and jumped on it with the creative juices flowing.
A computerized light show was used to control the lighting along with the uplighting. The uplighting was setting the tone during some dances, strobing during some dubstep, and a nice solid blue or white during the slow dances to create a calm, loving atmosphere. Other lights provided party on the ceiling, dots all over, and a blue ceiling wash with green dots to mimic the night sky during slow dances.
Some other party enhancers we used were air horns, a siren, a subwoofer, and no cheesy wedding line dances. The dance floor opened and the air horns were blown signaling everyone to grab someone else and bring them to the dance floor (called a “snowball”). The sirens were used in conjunction with the music to build energy and intensify the music selection. The subwoofer put the bass in people’s chest so they felt the music during this club style wedding.
Glow necklaces and bracelets were a huge part of the night. The disc jockey had girls on stage, the groom, the light jockey, even himself throwing out glow necklaces and bracelets to the crowd.
Another notable event during the night was the choreographed dance to the new hit “Call Me Maybe” by 3 girls fresh out of cheer camp. There was running, jumping, spinning, you name it.
During dinner Chris and Lou played the classics of the Beatles. Aaron Brown provided the photography and even had a makeshift photo booth on the stage.
