George’s 70th birthday was a celebration for the ages, held at The Centennial in Gary, Indiana, with fabulous food, a live band, singing, a youth dance troupe, drapery and elegant uplighting
The Centennial at 504 was abuzz with guests who were delighted by the elegant set up. White drapery in-between pillars caught the lovely uplighting in hues of light blues and light pinks. The guest of honor, George, was being celebrated as a father, brother, Tuskegee Airman, pastor, and friend by all those in attendance to the birthday party.
The evening was filled with entertainment, as George’s granddaughter sang Mariah Carey’s “Hero”, a live and talented jazz band filled the air with tunes, and The Anointed Ones, (a local youth dance troop) did a mime and dance routine to a gospel song.
The food was a delicious spread of comfort food like salad, chicken, beef roast, green beans, and scrumptious potatoes. Guests dinned while Carla, George’s daughter and various family members and friends gave speeches about Georges accomplishments as a pastor, friend, father, and Tuskegee Airman.
A blue, black and white three tier cake was indulged in as well as a yummy dessert table featuring red velvet cupcakes, mini custard pies, and cookie bars. Cucumber water, regular and raspberry lemonade quenched guests thirst.
As guests mingled and talked after dinner, people commented on the entertainment and the elegant uplighting and drapery throughout. George’s grandchildren wished him well and happy birthday on the microphone, and an old family friend sang a beautiful from-the-heart gospel song to George to honor him and his religious life. The local Tuskegee association of the Gary area was in attendance to lend a smile and loving support.
