Riste & Tanja’s Wedding | St. Peter & Paul | Crown Point, Indiana | Uplighting

Riste and Tanja’s wedding was the largest and most exciting wedding I have had the honor to attend at St. Peter & Paul Macedonian Banquet Hall in Crown Point, Indiana with uplighting and a live band.

There were over 450 guests that attended the wedding and the two head tables held about 38, that is right, thirty-eight, people. With such a large wedding party, the place was sure to erupt for all the memorable moments throughout the night.

One interesting thing I noticed was that a few of the ladies had very ornate handkerchiefs, and the custom Nike’s on the groomsmen. I was told that each city or village in their home countries had certain artwork and crafting styles displayed in these handkerchiefs. They were used to lead dances and spin around in joy. Overall I think the handkerchiefs really added to the excitement of the party and gave people something handmade and unique.

Other than the normal Macedonian traditions like the bread dance and the pig, they really stepped it up for the bouquet toss and garter removal/toss. The bride ended up doing two fake tosses, the first with just her hand, the 2^nd toss when she threw a napkin filled with something, and the 3^rd toss was the actual bouquet. When the time came for the garter removal, the bride backed the chair up just as the groom was about to go in for the garter. Once the groom had the garter, he tricked the single men there with a handful of flower petals.

 

 

Riste and Tanja had met with me, Paul Segal, a few times to preview some uplighting options. During our meetings, we entertained the idea of lighting up the ceiling, chandeliers, lighting the drive up outside, the lobby, and more. They decided to light up the head tables in red and white, light up the stage, the side walls, the lobby, and use two white lights to highlight the flower pedestals during their grand entrance.
